1957: Whitlam Label Company was founded by Elmer Whitlam. Mr. Whitlam began producing Pressure- Sensitive labels for the food & beverage industry.
1973: Whitlam Label Company was purchased by the Shaieb family; at that time we had only four employees and 3 printing presses.
1975: Steadily improving our production capabilities, Whitlam purchased two new printing presses, plate making equipment and inspection machines. The new capital investments lead us to purchase and move into a 4,200 square foot facility where we began to diversify into the automotive industry, making our mark through improved delivery and services.
1981: Whitlam purchased and moved into a 33,000 square foot building. As we continued to grow our business in the automotive market the demand for higher performance products became more challenging. The company recognized this as an opportunity and began integrating multiple technologies inline in our printing process. This integration gave us the ability to produce specialty high performance products at a cost effective advantage to our customers.
1989: Whitlam Label was growing at such a rapid rate; we continued to need more space to accommodate our growth. Whitlam moved into a 120,000 square foot building in Center Line, Michigan where we are currently located and purchased our first 6 color press, which includes running register controls, a 40 inch unwind, a UV curing system, four die-cut stations, a 30 inch in-line laminator and doctor blades at all print stations.
1998: Whitlam Label continued to add onto our capabilities, purchasing 2 Mark Andy Flexographic Presses to support growth.
2000: Whitlam Label acquires Delta Label, Custom Label, South Texas Label Company.
2004: Whitlam Label enters the digital market, with the HP Indigo.
2008: Whitlam Label expanded into the coupon, extended text, and booklet label markets.
2009: The EFI Jetrion 4550 UV Inkjet System helps us meet the growing market demand for short-run printing services, such as versioning, localization, regionalization, language and color changes, and personalized promotions.
2010: Whitlam invested over $2 million in various new equipment to support growth in film packaging, coupons, extended text & booklet labels, and the prime label market. One of our investments included the Mark Andy P7, 17", 12 color flexographic printing press.
